Go Commando started around 2010. A few Royal Marines wives in Taunton got fed up waiting for someone else to do something, so they did it themselves. Their husbands were away, money was tight, childcare was expensive. So they organised a calendar. It sold out.
Since then it's grown a bit, but not massively. We're still mostly volunteers. We don't have fancy offices or a big staff. What we do have is a lot of people who care about the same thing.
Look after the families. Full stop. The Marines get a lot of recognition but the wives, kids, and parents waiting at home tend to get forgotten. We try to fix that.
We're registered with the Charity Commission (no. 1147558) so everything is above board. Accounts are filed, money is tracked.
